Installing SmartSwipe in Firefox and Internet Explorer

Now that our Firefox version has been released, I am going to get back to blogging regularly. Since our Firefox version is so new, I am going to start a series of usability tips and tricks that will help you get started with SmartSwipe in Firefox.

For my first article in this series, I am going to cover installing SmartSwipe all the way from downloading the installation package to running it and making sure that the toolbar appears where you want it to appear in Firefox. In doing so, I will also (hopefully) show you some interesting tricks to make your overall Firefox experience more pleasant.

SmartSwipe - the Firefox Version is now Available

In one of the most perfect moments of my career, yesterday, at just after 4pm Saskatchewan time, I got to upload a brand new installation package to our web site. The moment the upload finished marked a wonderful milestone in our company's history - for the first time, we had a version of SmartSwipe that would run on Mozilla Firefox. However, that is not the only change in this new version. Our development team made some architectural changes so SmartSwipe is faster than ever before.

SmartSwipe 1.6.10 Has Been Released

It has been an exciting couple of days in the swipe cave. Yesterday, we finally released our long awaited version 1.6.10. 1.6.10 is a large step up - not only is it noticeably faster than previous versions, it also has some improved error messages.

SmartSwipe v1.6.7 Has Been Released

In exciting news, SmartSwipe version 1.6.7 is now available for download off of our web site. It has been roughly three weeks since SmartSwipe version 1.6.6 was released. While this is not a major update, we encourage all of our new customers to use the latest version.

Other than a few usability enhancements, the big addition in SmartSwipe v1.6.7 is the addition of a registration form. So now, all of our customers can register their version of SmartSwipe. Though registration is not required, we encourage all of you to register and introduce yourselves.

Carnegie Mellon University: Users Ignore Security Warnings

If you spend any amount of time on the web, you have definitely seen some security warnings. The question is, 'what do you do when you see one?'  Do you automatically click 'yes' to proceed?  If so, researchers from Carnegie Mellon University say that you are not alone.
