Customized Protection starts when a web payment page is not in our database. The SmartSwipe software needs your help so that it puts your credit card information in the appropriate boxes on the payment page. When Customized Protection starts, the grey SmartSwipe bar reads, "In order to protect your credit card transaction, SmartSwipe is going to need your help identifying boxes." Radio buttons (see Fig 1 - Radio Buttons) appear beside every field on the payment page. If the button is red and contains a question mark, it means that SmartSwipe needs you to confirm what should go in that box. If the box is grey and contains a minus sign, it means that SmartSwipe ignored that box. |

Figure 1 - Radio Buttons The Red Buttons (with question marks) indicate that SmartSwipe needs you to confirm what should go in that box. The Grey Buttons (with 'minus signs') indicate that SmartSwipe has ignored the box.

Customized Protection works via a simple dialogue. The Customized Protection dialogue box will 'guess' at what information should go in a field (see Fig 2 - The Customized Protection Dialogue Box). If the software guessed correctly, select 'yes', otherwise select 'no'. If you select no, the dialogue box will 'open up', so you can select what information should go in that box. If SmartSwipe ignores a credit card box, click on the grey radio button with the minus sign, and then manually select what information should go in that box (see Fig 3 - Selecting the Proper Identification). In review, the following types of information should always be protected: - The Cardholder's Name
- The Credit Card Number
- The Credit Card Identification Number
- Credit Card Expiry Information
If this information falls into the wrong hands, your credit card (and your entire credit history) can be vulnerable. Once all of the sensitive credit boxes are protected, complete the transaction. Fill in the rest of the required information (do not type in any sensitive credit card information), then click 'submit'. SmartSwipe securely replaces information in the "protected fields" with your actual card information, and your transaction is completely secure. |

Figure 3 - Selecting the Proper Identification If you select 'no', or if you click on a grey radio button with a minus sign (an ignored field), the rest of the dialogue box will open up, as shown above. Use your mouse to select what kind of information should go in that box. |
