After you swipe your credit card, the SmartSwipe software takes the information from your credit card and places it in the correct boxes on the payment page.  It might be easiest to understand what happens if you picture it like this.  There are pieces of information on your credit card.  These pieces of information include things like your credit card number, your name, and your expiry information. Â

When you shop online, payment pages have boxes for this same information.  For example, there is a box for credit card number, a box for your credit card's expiry information, and a box for your name.  When you use SmartSwipe, you have to make sure that the pieces of information are placed in the correct boxes.

SmartSwipe works with a database - when a payment page is in our database, the software already know exactly what information should go in what boxes.  The database essentially maps a payment page and shows SmartSwipe exactly where to enter information.  We call this process Regular Safecheckout.

If a payment page is not in our database, you can use a process called Customized Safecheckout.  Customized Safecheckout has a bit of automation built into it, so it will automatically classify most fields.  However, SmartSwipe will ask you for help if it is not completely sure what kind of information should go in a box.
